MUSEUM DISTRICT RENOVATION

This project is a complete interior build-out of an existing Tudor house built in 1929. The interior, having been completely altered in the 1980's, was unsuitable to the needs of the current owner and his partner. The circulation was fragmented and the spaces were cramped or underlit.

The solution presented by Albers Chang Architects uses the organizing element of a new combined kitchen/ dining room as a spine to which the smaller spaces attach. This spine finds daily use along with the master bedroom and den at the core of the house. During large gatherings, the den and master bedroom are closed off, containing circulation to the public spaces along the west side of the house. The den bath doubles as a powder room.
